Laptop audio jack not working but speakers are working !!

Below steps resolved my problem. Don't think the solution is specific to any OS!

1. Turn off the laptop.
2. Remove the power supply and battery both 
3. Push the power button of laptop, keep it pressed for 30 seconds, then put back battery and reboot 

It basically removes static charge.

Headphone jack should work now
