Well i am sure that was not what Tagore had in mind.
It reminds me of the opening lines in the movie 'Anand'. Amitabh's writing his diary as the experiences of a doctor who's helplessly watching poor people die daily. He writes - Ek maraa nahi ki doosra janm le kar aa gaya - marne ke liye!
Thoughtful, indeed.
